U.S. Chargé D'Affaires Robin Matthewman visited the oceanographic research vessel Roger Revelle, December 3, 2008 while berthed at the port of Montevideo to take on supplies and equipment as well as a contingent of scientists who are initiating a research cruise along the southern coast of Argentina.The vessel is operated by Scripps Institution of Oceanography, one of the oldest and largest centers for ocean and earth science research, graduate training, and public service in the world. Revelle is the second of three new-generation AGOR oceanographic ships built by the U.S. Navy for operation by oceanographic institutions.
